BICYCLE SAFETY TIPS

  • Ensure that the brake pads open and close together when applying the brake handles. If not sure, have it inspected by a professional mechanic regularly.
  • Check tire pressure and inflate to recommended maximum pressure. Check the threads for wear and visually check for any damages.
  • Always wear a proper fitting helmet. Wearing a helmet is the best thing you can do to be safe when you ride a bike. Bicycle helmets save lives. Bike helmets can prevent head injury. Bike helmets should fit evenly between the ears and sit low on your forehead. Wearing a helmet does not prevent crashes.
  • Ride with the flow of traffic; on the RIGHT side.
  • Stop at all STOP signs and all traffic lights.
  • Do not ride in the wrong direction on one-way streets.
  • Give the right of way to pedestrians.
  • Do NOT carry any passengers.
  • On plain bicycles, use proper hand signals to indicate turns, and for electric scooter-type bicycles use the signal light switch.
  • A well-maintained bicycle will extend the life of your bicycle. A good overall tune-up of your bicycle should be completed if your bicycle hasn’t been used in many months.
  • Spend a lot of time searching the internet for more detailed instructions on bicycle safety or any other topic desired. Try searching in Google using key words such as; 'Electric bicycle safety', 'Bicycle safety', 'Bicycle Helmet Safety', etc...
